O’Sullivan enjoys successful rookie run for Envision Racing ahead of Jeddah race weekend

Zak in the cockpit of his Formula E car in Jeddah Zak O’Sullivan declared himself happy with his debut Formula E outing after finishing in the top six on the timesheets at the rookie test in Saudi Arabia.

The 20-year-old, from Withington, near Cheltenham, has signed as a sim driver for Silverstone-based Envision Racing in 2025 and was given the chance to sample the new Gen3 Evo car in person for the first time.

Ahead of the Jeddah E-Prix, a new track for the championship, O’Sullivan completed 21 laps of the circuit during the 40-minute session, more than any other rookie.

Zak said: “I really enjoyed things from my side. Compared to what I’ve driven before, it was a very different experience. There’s a lot of acceleration, especially in four-wheel drive mode, and a lot more instant power.

It’s quite strange driving with no engine noise but I got used to it quickly and felt straight at home.

Jeddah is quite tight in the altered sections compared to the Formula One layout, but there are enough high-speed sections to keep things interesting. I’m looking forward to hopefully getting another chance in the car in the future.”
