O’Sullivan enjoys productive Super Formula test at Suzuka
Globe-trotting Zak O’Sullivan declared himself happy with his preparation for the 2025 season after a productive Super Formula test at Suzuka.
The 20-year-old, from Withington, near Cheltenham, set a best time of 1.36.825 around the iconic home of the Japanese Grand Prix, overcoming an accident in the first session to set the 10th best time overall and fastest rookie time.
Clocking 38 laps in the second session, the second highest of any driver, Zak finished just 0.001 ahead of experienced team-mate Kenta Yamashita.
That was all the running he was able to secure, as the second day of the test was cancelled due to heavy snow.
Zak said:
“I was really happy with the progress we made over the test, despite the setback of the
accident. However, it’s all a learning process for me and, overall, it was a really positive experience, despite
losing the second day to the snow. Now, my thoughts turn to being as prepared as I possibly can be when the racing gets under way for real.”
The Super Formula season begins at Suzuka over the weekend of March 7-9 and the races can be watched live in the UK on Motorsport TV.
